A LUISS Political Science alumni becomes the Italian Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates

Liborio StellinoLUISS graduate Liborio Stellino became the new Ambassador of Italy to the United Arab Emirates.

After completing a degree in Political Science, Stellino began his diplomatic career with his first posting at theSub-Saharan Africa Desk in the Political Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He subsequently received postings in Nicosia (Cyprus) and Rabat (Morocco) as First Secretary and Counsellor, respectively, before returning to Italy in February 2000 as Diplomatic Advisor to the Minister of Higher Education and Research.

In 2001 Stellino returned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as a Cabinet Counsellor, and from 2002 until 2006  he acted as Head of the Press Office at the Italian Embassy to the Russian Federation, followed by a posting asConsul General of Italy in Boston.

In 2010 he came back to Italy, this time as International Relations Advisor to the President of Lombardy and subsequently as Diplomatic Advisor to the Commissioner General for EXPO Milan 2015.

In January 2013, he became the Minister Plenipotentiary for the Russian Federation, Eastern Europe, the Caucasus and Central Asia in the Directorate General for Political Affairs and Security of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs before becoming the new Italian Ambassador in Abu Dhabi.
