Apply to CIC Miami’s 19for51 grant program

CIC Miami has partnered with General Assembly to provide free business growth services and education to 19 historically under-resourced entrepreneurs for 51 business days.

Innovation is born through the power of creative collaboration. For twenty years, CIC has been a physical convener of activity, enabling and spurring conversations and growth that may not have happened had distinct organizations remained siloed. As we shift to redefine what it means to gather, collaborate, share and be truly equitable in a post-2020 era, we are as committed as ever to fixing the world through innovation.

To encourage this, CIC Miami is accepting applications for 19for51, a grant program to support the individuals, entrepreneurs and small businesses who are at the heart of our communities. The 51 business day grant includes incubation-like services for up to two team members, digital skills training, business development resources, network-building and physical workspace, valued at $3,800, per person.

General Assembly will conduct eight group training workshops to upskill each cohort member, fostering digital mindsets, technical capabilities, and a growth culture that drives business success. In addition, Individuals will be able to access 28 total workshops focused on digital marketing and e-commerce, product design, data analytics, user experience design, and career development.

General Assembly has transformed lives by pioneering education in today’s most in-demand skills. Cohort members will gain access to award-winning curriculum and expert instructors, career coaching, and a global community of 80,000+ alumni. People come to GA from an incredibly diverse array of careers, and include former musicians, Wall Street bankers, Uber drivers, professional athletes, actuaries, graphic designers, journalists, lawyers, and more. Regardless of previous barriers to education and employment, GA believes everyone should be able to pursue a meaningful career they love.

The program name origins and core concept are derived from CIC Miami’s home base: 1951 NW 7th Avenue in Miami’s historic Overtown and Allapattah neighborhoods.

CIC and General Assembly are seeking individuals who are able to commit to attend and participate in eight virtual sessions over the course of ten weeks (maximum of one course per week). Additional educational resources will be available to those who are interested in going beyond the base curriculum.

Entrepreneurs, and individuals that are on the path to becoming an entrepreneur, from all industries, stages of growth, and backgrounds are welcome to apply. Priority will be given historically under-resourced groups. Some examples are black, brown or indigenous folks, female or femme-identifying individuals, people with disabilities, LGBTQ+, immigrant or first generation, DACA recipients, minorities and veterans, etc.
