Confindustria, Emanuele Orsini appointed president

Emanuele Orsini, 51, was born in Sassuolo on August 29, 1973, into a family with a lengthy commercial history. Carlo, Orsini’s father, played a key role in establishing the family business, Sistem Costruzioni, which is now a market leader in wood construction and industrial logistics. In 1978, Carlo Orsini and four other entrepreneurs founded the company after participating in the success of Ceramiche Ragno. They banked on the expansion of the wooden building sector, which was still in its early stages in Italy.
After graduating from high school with a degree in science, he attended the Faculty of Law for a year before leaving to pursue full-time job. In 1992, he joined the family firm and began his professional development by gaining knowledge of the building site and understanding the dynamics of each phase of production. At Sistem Costruzioni, he handles a variety of responsibilities, including warehouse work and purchasing, which he enjoys.

In 2014, Orsini became the administrator and CEO of Sistem Costruzioni. After initially distancing himself from the company due to a disagreement with his father, he was re-appointed. However, a few months later, his father contacted him and decided to retain leadership of Sistem Costruzioni. Orsini, who has been with Sistem Costruzioni for over 30 years, has helped the company grow from a carpentry company to a leader in the wood building industry. He has developed bespoke solutions that go beyond modular and standard concepts, as well as carried out several community initiatives, such as the rehabilitation of countless structures in the earthquake-affected areas of Abruzzo, Emilia-Romagna and Marche. The company also contributed significantly to the development of infrastructure and pavilions for Expo 2015, including parts of Palazzo Italia, the Cardo and the Decumano, and the Morocco pavilion, for a total of 27,000 sq. m. of structures completed in just three months.

Today, the company leads a’system’ of 15 other companies with operations throughout Central America, and its primary partners include Ferrari Auto, Maserati, and Lamborghini. Among the main companies controlled by Sistem Costruzioni is the Maranello Village (the first residential complex dedicated to the world of the Prancing Horse), which consists of bars, restaurants, a gymnasium, and several multipurpose areas totaling 25,000 square meters, for which Orsini has taken over the financial and technical development since 2004, with an investment of approximately 21 million euros, and of which he still serves as president. Maranello Village was formed out of the need to provide housing for Ferrari’s numerous employees, notably those from the southern regions.

In 2020, after the passing of his father-in-law Lanfranco Fiandri, founder of Tino Prosciutti SpA, he takes over as president and CEO of the Parma-based company with four production plants, a leader in Italy in the processing and production of Prosciutto Crudo Stagionato and Prosciutto Crudo Stagionato Disossato a ‘Mattonella’, with a weekly production capacity of 35,000 hams. Orsini bring the Tino Prosciutti into a new phase of growth and development, by streamlining production processes and launching new projects, starting with the fifth production plant that will be operational 2025 and will help increase the export share to new markets outside the EU, including the United States of America, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the People’s Republic of China.

The aggregate turnover of the companies managed by Emanuele Orsini now exceeds 110 mln euros, of which 72 mln are headed by Tino Prosciutti, 40 mln by Sistem Costruzioni and 17 mln by Maranello Village.

After serving as president of Assolegno since 2013, in February 2017 he was elected president of FederlegnoArredo, the Italian Federation of Wood and Furniture. Among the most significant projects carried out during Orsini’s presidency include the reconstruction of the kindergarten in Finale Emilia (Modena), destroyed following the 2012 earthquake. Together with 80 other companies, FederlegnoArredo donated to the town a new school of more than 2,000 square meters. Since 2015, he has been a member of the Board of Confindustria Modena and head of the Miscellaneous Section of the same association, and in 2016 he was elected a member of the Technical Group Industry and Environment.

From 2017 to 2020 he was a member of the General Council of Confindustria, also becoming a member of the Technical Group for Internationalization of the same Confederation. Since May 2020, he has been vice president of Confindustria with responsibility for Credit, Finance and Taxation.

In April 2013, he was appointed vice chairman of Unicredit Leasing, the UniCredit Group company among the leaders in Italy in leasing finance, and then assumed its presidency from May 2018 to May 2020. In 2018, he was awarded by the Minister of Environment and Protection of the Sea with the Diploma of Environmental Merit.
