Maurizio Biasini is the new Science Attaché in Washington.

Maurizio Biasini is Professor of Experimental Physics at the University of Perugia and his research activity has always been carried out in the field of elementary particle physics, in particular in the experimental study of fundamental interactions with accelerator experiments, in constant collaboration with the Istituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare (INFN).

He worked on the CMS experiment at the LHC accelerator at CERN, on the Babar experiment at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center in the United States, on the Belle2 experiment at the KEK laboratory in Japan and on the L3 experiment on the LEP accelerator at CERN for which he has held research and management responsibilities. He also conducted experiments for the development of radiation detectors for the medical use. He is co-author of over 1000 publications. He has held various roles in INFN, including being a member of the MIUR-designated Board of Directors.

From 2011 to 2015 had the role of Science Attaché around the Permanent Representation of Italy, around the United Nations and International Organizations in Geneva, in the fields of research, environment and telecommunications with a special attention to CERN, World Meteorological Organization (WMO), International Telecommunication Union (ITU), demonstrating a strong inclination for scientific diplomacy and promotion of the Italian scientific and technological system abroad.
