Sapienza Top Italian University in the International Rank

Sapienza, the first public university in Rome, grows and on the international scene it confirms itself as the first Italian university in the “Centre for world university rankings” (Cwur) published today. An important goal achieved in view of the expansion of the educational offer and also the results of the students.

The ranking is drawn up on the basis of 7 parameters, 4 of which are related to Research performance (this is the best parameter for Sapienza); the other criteria considered are “Quality of faculty”, “Quality of education” and “Alumni employment”.

Sapienza has 114 thousand students, offers 120 libraries – of which 54 are Departmental – for 6,300 reading seats. There are about a thousand laboratories according to the latest census and 281 courses of study offered in the academic year 2019/2020 that rise to 329, adding up to 48 in English. Finally, 195 master’s degree courses are active and in these months of distance learning imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic, 95% of the courses have been guaranteed remotely for a total of about 100 thousand “connected” students.

The Center for World University Rankings (CWUR) is a leading consulting organization providing policy advice, strategic insights, and consulting services to governments and universities to improve educational and research outcomes.

Since 2012, CWUR has been publishing the only academic ranking of global universities that assesses the quality of education, alumni employment, research output, and citations without relying on surveys and university data submissions. The ranking started out as a project in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia with the aim of rating the top 100 world universities. It was quickly reported worldwide by universities and the media and many requests were received to expand it. In 2019, the ranking expanded to list the top 2000 out of twenty thousand universities worldwide, making it the largest academic ranking of global universities.

Since 2016, the Center for World University Rankings is headquartered in the United Arab Emirates.
