Giulia Diluvio joins the Scientific Community of Miami Scientific Italian Community

Dr. Giulia Diluvio, Ph.D. Scientist at University of Miami Miller School of Medicine – Department of Surgery, Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, is a new member of MSIC’s Scientific Community.

Dr. Giulia Diluvio is a molecular biologist with over a decade of experience in preclinical and translational research. Her career trajectory reflects a commitment to advancing scientific knowledge and improving patient outcomes through rigorous research, engagement with the scientific community, and participation in initiatives that connect academia with industry.

Giulia earned her Bachelor’s in Biotechnology from the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Rome in 2010. She then earned a Master’s in Medical Biotechnology from Sapienza University of Rome, Italy. Building upon this foundation, she completed her Ph.D. in Molecular Medicine at the same institution in 2016. Her doctoral research focused on understanding the molecular mechanisms underlying cancer progression, preparing her for a career in translational research.

In 2016, Giulia was awarded a prestigious postdoctoral fellowship at the Department of Molecular Medicine, Sapienza University of Rome. During this tenure, she investigated the molecular mechanisms that promote breast cancer resistance to chemotherapy, contributing to understanding cancer therapies.

In 2017, Giulia moved to the United States to further her research career. She joined the University of Miami’s Miller School of Medicine as a Postdoctoral Fellow, where she led preclinical research in solid tumor models. Her work resulted in the identification and optimization of the first small-molecule inhibitor of NACK with anticancer activity. Additionally, she authored several project proposals that successfully attracted significant research funding. She also served as project manager for the Postdoc Association, identifying new funding opportunities.
Concurrently, Giulia began serving as a Scientific Consultant for StemSynergy Therapeutics, Inc. (SSTI), a biotechnology company focused on discovering and developing novel therapeutics targeting mechanisms fundamental to cancer. In addition to her research endeavors, Dr. Diluvio has been actively involved in the scientific community, participating in initiatives that bridge the gap between academia and industry. Since 2021, Dr. Giulia Diluvio has collaborated as a Medical Writer for LARS Editores in Bogotá, Colombia. In this capacity, she developed medical content for promotional materials to support the pharmaceutical industry and non-promotional content for scientific divulgation.

In 2022, Giulia advanced to the role of Scientist at the University of Miami’s Miller School of Medicine. She led preclinical and translational projects to generate early clinical development plans aimed at identifying and validating novel therapeutic strategies for treating cancers resistant to conventional therapies. Her research focused on investigating small-molecule mechanisms of action in vitro and in vivo for translational studies.

Giulia’s career reflects a dedication to advancing scientific knowledge and improving patient outcomes through collaborative efforts. By engaging with multidisciplinary teams and fostering open communication, she has contributed to molecular biology and translational research, leveraging her drug discovery expertise to advance innovative research and therapeutic development.
