Italian Space Day 2025

Established by directive of the Italian Prime Minister to celebrate the launch of the first Italian satellite, San Marco 1, which took place on December 15th, 1964, which allowed Italy to be among the first countries in the world to overcome the Earth’s atmosphere. Since then Italy boasts many records in space and has become one of the main actors on the international scene.

Dedicated initiatives promoted by Italian public administrations, Italian research bodies, universities, museums and companies, open to the public, to raise awareness of the importance of the sector.

Space is closer to citizens and to our daily life than we imagine. The contributions that science and technology applied to Space, bring to the improvement of the human condition and the returns that the sector and its services offer in terms of economic growth, welfare, sustainable development, environmental protection and international prestige of our country, will be the common thread that accompanies all the activities of the first national event.

For this reason all the national and the Italian international realities have been called to activate, within their different competences, the organization of communication and awareness initiatives on the space sector. Research institutions, universities, museums and companies from all over the peninsula will be involved, opening their doors to the public with different activities during the day.
