Dr. Margherita Mencattelli-Mkparu, postdoctoral research fellow in the Medical Robotics and Interventional Devices Lab of Prof. Pierre Dupont at Harvard Medical School, Boston Children’s Hospital., is a new member of MSIC’s Scientific Community.

Dr. Mencattelli-Mkparu’s research expertises include design, building and testing of medical devices, with focus on endoscopes for interventional cardiology and cardiac surgery. She contributed to the development of a robotic platform for transapical autonomous navigation inside the beating heart, and is currently working on transcatheter devices for heart valve repair.

Dr. Mencattelli-Mkparu’s received both her Bachelor (2008) and Master (2011) degrees from University of Pisa in Biomedical Engineering, and her PhD from Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna in Biorobotics, in 2016.
