De Furia (MSIC): Small and Micro Italian enterprises will be the protagonists of the nautical sector
“Design, Innovation, and Technology, together with the ability of SMEs to aggregate, are the main assets that Made in Italy must focus on in order to strengthen its position and continue to win the challenges of globalization in world markets with Italian Small and Micro Enterprises that, thanks to high standards of research and innovation of materials and production processes, will be the protagonists of the nautical sector,” commented Fabio De Furia, President of the Miami Scientific Italian Community, around the opening of the Miami International Boat Show, the largest nautical event in the world that, from February 16th to 20th, will feature the excellence of the nautical world, animating the Miami Beach Convention Center and Pride Park, recently redesigned, the Sea Isle Marina, One Herald Plaza, Museum Park Marina and IGY Yacht Haven Grande at Island Gardens.
The event will be attended by many Italian companies active in the boating industry that will showcase the excellence of the design and the technology in the production of boats and their components. Each new project is a challenge that the boating industry associates with the biggest names in nautical architecture and design, with a focus on innovation: from fabrics to technical tapes, from fluid sealing systems to anti-vibration systems, to specific applications and in particular with products designed for protection and furnishings.
De Furia continues: “The transfer of these technologies is fundamental for the future development of any product and we must not forget that 90% of sustainable production takes place in the design phase, and this highlights the importance of Made in Italy design. Our nautical sector has gradually give up the moorings of tradition, by preferring the entry onto the market of products that are able to create an ideal continuity between yacht and home. The importance and reputation attributed worldwide to the main Italian boatyards, as confirmed by the 2021 results with widespread positive performance for the sector’s foreign sales, will drive the sector’s small and micro-businesses, which may be very diverse, but are significant in terms of numbers, know-how, and specialization”.
