Miami Dade College (MDC) is partnering with Miami Hack Week (MHW) to host Hack@Campus, a student-only track event taking place daily Jan. 23-30, from 6-9 p.m. Designed to help students explore the tech industry and learn first-hand how to get involved in tech, Hack@Campus will be held at MDC’s Business Innovation & Technology (BIT) Center located at MDC Wolfson Campus in downtown Miami. Sessions will be available in-person and online with students attending the opening and closing events of MHW.
“Hack@Campus is a great initiative that will allow to showcase our local talented students, while giving them an opportunity to interact with Miami Hack Week participants and speakers,” said Antonio Delgado, Vice President of Innovation and Technology Partnerships at Miami Dade College.
As part of the collaboration between MDC and MHW, the first 100 students that register for the event will be automatically accepted and will receive a stipend to join hackathon challenges at the BIT Center, and participate in activities from the week-long event. Said challenges will concentrate on “Blockchain Solutions for Academia” and “TikTok and Social Media Influencers.” During the week participants will also hear from speakers, panelists and get the chance to network with MHW hackathon attendees.
“The Hack@Campus student track will allow us to integrate local students into our rapidly growing local tech industry,” said Ja’dan Johnson, Executive Director of Miami Hack Week. “That way, once those students are ready to look for an internship or job, they’ll already have relevant experience and relationships in place.”
