Toward industrial application of the Safe and Sustainable by Design (SSbD) approach

Workshop: 22 September 2023 (9:00 – 13:00), NanoInnovation 2023  (hybrid event, in presence in Rome or online)

The safety and sustainability of chemicals and materials and their applications are a cornerstone of current EU policy and industrial strategies. Frameworks and criteria for practical implementation of Safe and Sustainable by Design (SSbD) approaches have been published by the OECD, European Commission, and industrial actors, such as CEFIC. These will increasingly become premium aspects to access funding and contracts and are a prerequisite to developing products aiming to fulfil sustainable development goals.

The workshop, organized within the NanoInnovation Conference, will showcase experiences and activities at the European level on the development of advanced materials and nano-enabled materials following the SSbD approaches developed within 5 EU-funded Research projects: ASINA, SABYDOMA, SABYNA, SbD4nano and REPOXYBLE.

It will provide a unique opportunity to have an overview and discuss strategies for deployment and exploitation of SSbD methods, processes, and products in a variety of application sectors, including materials & coatings, cosmetic, textile, manufacturing, automotive, and aerospace.

The event is a follow-up of SSbD events hold in the previous 2021 and 2022 of the NanoInnovation Conference.

Target audience: industry players (large companies & SMEs), researchers, young researchers, risks & health & safety executives, quality and sustainability managers, consultants, regulators, workers and consumers.

  • Learnings on SSbD in industrial processes: comparing case studies from five EU projects on Safe and Sustainable by Design
  • ASINA project exploitation workshop: SSbD industrial application in cosmetics, textile and other sectors

Participation (in presence ore remotely) is free upon registration.
